Nutrition and the Post-2015 Development Agenda - Seizing the Opportunity

The guest-editor of the SCN News 41 is Asma Lateef, Director Bread for the World Institute.

The articles in this issue bring together a diversity of views and perspectives on the importance of nutrition to the SDGs agenda, the ways in which the SDGs could elevate and focus attention on the urgency of eliminating malnutrition, the opportunities to be seized and the challenges to be addressed to deliver on the promise to end hunger and malnutrition in all its forms.

This publication includes four feature papers and a large number of different perspectives from stakeholders and champions alike, including the First Lady of Peru, the US Special Representative for Global Food Security, the Permanent Representative of Ireland to the UN and co-facilitator of the SDG negotiations, the CFS Chair, the SUN Coordinator a.i., the Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the UN in Geneva, and field workers among many others.

In this issue you will also find our usual Programme News and Speaker's Corner, Publications and Announcements.  For this edition's Speaker's Corner, former UN Special Rapporteur on the right to food, Prof Olivier De Schutter discusses the potential of a framework convention on healthy diets; OECD's Dr Franco Sassi provides a response.

We hope that you will join us in sharing this SCN News widely in your networks, on your organizations' website and through social media to further advocate for ensuring the inclusion of the eight proposed nutrition indicators in the SDG monitoring framework as well as for increasing investments in nutrition.
